Rep. Jack Rader is organizing two seminars focused on identity theft prevention in the 176th Legislative District, with a particular emphasis on safeguarding older residents. These events are being co-hosted with the Office of Attorney General to address the rising issue of identity theft.
"Identity theft continues to be one of the fastest growing crimes in the country and scammers are constantly coming up with schemes to trick us into giving them our personal information," stated Rader. "Our seminars are an easy way to learn how to protect yourself from becoming a victim."
The free seminars will take place on Thursday, May 4, from 5-7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Pocono Lake, and on Thursday, June 15, from 5-7 p.m. at Ross Township Municipal Building in Saylorsburg.
Dave Shallcross, director of senior protection with the Office of Attorney General, will lead these sessions. He will cover various topics including actions to take if one falls victim to identity theft, strategies for protecting personal information online and offline, and recognizing scams aimed at stealing identities.
Those interested in attending must make reservations by contacting Rader’s district offices at either 570-643-7683 (Blakeslee office) or 570-620-4341 (Effort office).
