Tobyhanna Township has been awarded a state grant exceeding $243,000 to aid in the rehabilitation of Locust Ridge Ball Field Park. This announcement was made by Representative Jack Rader (R-Monroe), who contributed to securing the funding.

The township aims to transform the underutilized baseball field into a versatile recreational area featuring a softball-sized field, walking track with fitness stops, and an outdoor fitness gym. The grant will be allocated for constructing the gym and installing equipment.

"I am proud to fully support the grant for this worthwhile recreation project, which is part of Tobyhanna Township’s broader action plan for growth and development," stated Rader. "It’s always rewarding to see state resources being invested back into our community for initiatives like this one that will benefit residents of all ages for many years to come."

The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) approved the grant, which was made available through the Department of Community and Economic Development's Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program. This program is funded by the Marcellus Legacy Fund established by Act 13 of 2012, designed to distribute natural gas drilling impact fees.

The CFA operates as an independent agency within the Commonwealth, managing fiduciary responsibility over funding programs aimed at Pennsylvania's economic growth.
