FOIA Request to Monroe County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Monroe County News have submitted a request for records under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq.
Our request is specifically aimed at obtaining a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The information we are seeking includes the candidates' first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation.
In addition to this, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
