Rep. Jack Rader of Monroe County has been appointed as the Republican chair of the newly formed Environmental and Natural Resources Protection Committee in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2025-26 legislative session.

"I look forward to taking on this added responsibility and am grateful to our House Republican Caucus leaders for naming me to this important position," said Rader. "As a lifelong Monroe County resident, I appreciate the great outdoors and understand its significant role in the Commonwealth’s economy. I plan to work with my colleagues in advancing legislation to preserve and protect our environment for the benefit of all Pennsylvanians."

The committee will oversee environmental laws managed by both the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). It will address issues related to clean air, land and water, radioactive and other waste disposal, recycling, among others.

Standing committees play a vital role in the legislative process as all bills are assigned to a committee for review. These committees can hold hearings on proposed legislation, consider amendments, and report bills to the full House for voting.

Rader and his fellow House members took their oath of office on January 7th to commence the new session.
