In an effort to educate residents about the latest scams, Representative Jack Rader is collaborating with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General to host an identity theft seminar. The event aims to address the growing concern of identity theft, which continues to be a prevalent crime across the country.
"Identity theft continues to be one of the fastest growing crimes in the country and scammers are constantly coming up with new ways to trick us into providing our personal information," stated Rader. "This seminar is an easy way for residents to learn how to protect themselves from becoming a victim."
The seminar will take place on Thursday, April 4, at 6 p.m., at the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. David Shallcross, director of the senior protection unit with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, will lead the session. Topics include steps to take if one falls victim to identity theft, strategies for safeguarding personal information online and offline, and methods for identifying scams designed to steal identities.
Attendance is free but requires reservations. Interested individuals can register online or contact Rader’s district offices at 570-643-7683 (Blakeslee) or 570-620-4341 (Effort).
