A Safe Schools Targeted Grant of $45,000 has been awarded to the Pocono Mountain School District. The announcement was made by Representative Jack Rader, who serves Monroe County. This grant is designated for acquiring security equipment and implementing safety programs.

"We have made school security a priority in Pennsylvania and this grant program helps to maintain a safer learning environment," stated Rader. "Students should not have to worry about any classroom threats and be able to focus on their studies instead."

The initiative aims to support schools in minimizing unnecessary student disciplinary actions while fostering productivity, safety, and learning. It also seeks to strengthen anti-violence efforts involving collaboration between schools, parents, local governments, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations.

Pocono Mountain is one of 166 educational entities across the state that received part of an $8 million fund aimed at enhancing school safety. The funding allows for purchasing new equipment, launching programs, and hiring security personnel as well as school resource officers.

The Safe Schools Targeted Grant Program is managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education with financial backing from the General Assembly.
