Rep. Jack Rader of Monroe County has been appointed as the Republican chair of the newly established Environmental and Natural Resources Protection Committee in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2025-26 legislative session.

"I look forward to taking on this added responsibility and am grateful to our House Republican Caucus leaders for naming me to this important position," said Rader. "As a lifelong Monroe County resident, I appreciate the great outdoors and understand its significant role in the Commonwealth’s economy. I plan to work with my colleagues in advancing legislation to preserve and protect our environment for the benefit of all Pennsylvanians."

The committee is tasked with overseeing environmental laws managed by both the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). It will address issues related to clean air, land, water, waste disposal, recycling, among others.

Standing committees play a crucial role in the legislative process. They review bills assigned to them, hold hearings on proposed legislation, consider amendments, and report bills to the full House for voting.

Rader and other members took their oaths of office on January 7th as they commenced their new session duties.
