Rep. Jack Rader of Monroe County is collaborating with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General to conduct an identity theft seminar. The event aims to educate residents on protecting themselves from scams and identity theft.
"Identity theft continues to be one of the fastest growing crimes in the country and scammers are constantly coming up with new ways to trick us into providing our personal information," said Rader. "This seminar is an easy way for residents to learn how to protect themselves from becoming a victim."
The seminar will take place on Thursday, April 4, at 6 p.m., at the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department in Reeders. Attendees can enter starting at 5:30 p.m.
David Shallcross, director of the senior protection unit with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, will lead the seminar. He will cover topics such as actions to take if one becomes a victim of identity theft, tips for safeguarding personal information online and offline, and identifying scams designed to steal identities.
Reservations are necessary and can be made by visiting RepRader.com/events or calling Rader’s district offices at either 570-643-7683 (Blakeslee) or 570-620-4341 (Effort).
