Rep. Jack Rader of Monroe County has announced a free license plate replacement event on June 7, in collaboration with the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department. The event will be held at the parking lot of Rader’s district office in Blakeslee from noon to 2 p.m.
"We are happy to provide this free service to simplify the process of obtaining a new license plate from PennDOT," said Rader. "Thanks to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department for helping us out."
Vehicle owners interested in participating must register online at www.RepRader.com/events or call 570-643-7683, providing their title and plate information.
PennDOT defines a license plate as illegible if one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet away, or if there is blistering, peeling, discoloration, or loss of reflectivity. If a police officer determines a plate is illegible, paperwork will be completed without charge. A new replacement plate will then be sent to the vehicle owner’s home address within weeks.
The event aims to assist vehicle owners in replacing plates that have become unreadable over time.
