Rep. Jack Rader is collaborating with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General to host an identity theft seminar aimed at educating residents about the latest scams. This event will take place on June 13 at 6 p.m. in the Tunkhannock Township Municipal Building, located at 1557 Long Pond Road in Long Pond. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Rader highlighted the importance of such initiatives by stating, "Identity theft continues to be one of the fastest growing crimes in the country and scammers are constantly coming up with new ways to trick us into providing our personal information." He emphasized that this seminar provides an opportunity for residents, particularly older individuals who are often targeted, to learn how to safeguard themselves from becoming victims.
The seminar will feature David Shallcross, director of the senior protection unit with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, as its lead speaker. Attendees can expect discussions on actions to take if they fall victim to identity theft, strategies for protecting personal information online and offline, and advice on recognizing scams designed to steal identities.
Interested participants must make reservations either through RepRader.com/events or by contacting Rader’s district offices at 570-643-7683 (Blakeslee) or 570-620-4341 (Effort).
