Rep. Jack Rader (R-Monroe) announced today that he will host a free license plate replacement event on Friday, June 7. The event, in partnership with the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, will take place in the parking lot of Rader’s district office in Blakeslee, located at 395 Route 940, from noon to 2 p.m.
"We are happy to provide this free service to simplify the process of obtaining a new license plate from PennDOT," said Rader. "Thanks to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department for helping us out."
Vehicle owners interested in participating in the event must register online at www.RepRader.com/events or by calling 570-643-7683. They are also required to provide title and plate information.
PennDOT states that a plate is considered illegible if one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet away or if the plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity. If a police officer determines that a plate is illegible, paperwork will be completed free of charge. A new replacement plate should arrive at the vehicle owner’s home address within a few weeks.
