Mars Area School District issued the following announcement.
All Athletics/Activities on Hold Thru Jan. 4
In adherence with the new mitigation orders set forth by Gov. Tom Wolf and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Mars Area School District “paused” its Winter Sports Season, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, and continuing until 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4.
In addition, as per the order, any all “in-person” extracurricular school activities, such as performances, club/group meetings, etc. are suspended through 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4. Such activities may be held virtually.
As COVID cases in Butler County, across the state and throughout the country continue to rise are anticipated to surge even higher during the Holiday Season, Mars Area School District shares in Gov. Wolf and health officials’ hope that these new, temporary mitigation efforts will help to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The District will provide information regarding any future changes to gathering limitations and social distancing guidelines, as those details become available.
