EAST STROUDSBURG UNIVERSITY: Autism Education Center at East Stroudsburg University Announces Zoom Social Networking Series

East Stroudsburg University issued the following announcement.

The East Stroudsburg University Autism Education Center Recreation and Networking Series (RANS) will offer summer social networking sessions. These sessions will be an opportunity to provide for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) socialization and recreational activities on a weekly basis. Each session will be 25-30 minutes and will occur weekly for four weeks.

All participants must be accompanied by an adult, and siblings are welcome. Each session will provide participants with a combination of crafts, stories, games, and time for independent socialization.

The first summer session will take place Wednesday, June 24 – Wednesday, July 15. The second summer session will take place Wednesday, August 5 – Wednesday, August 26. The times of the sessions are as follows: PreK Playtime, 9-9:25 a.m.; Kindergarten-2nd Grade, 9:30-10 a.m.; 3rd-5th Grade, 10:15-10:45 a.m.; 6th-8th Grade, 11-11:30 a.m.; 9th-12th Grade, 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.; and Adults, 12:30 – 1 p.m.

The RANS summer social networking sessions are currently grant funded and provided to participants at no cost. Sessions will be held through an ESU HIPAA compliant Zoom account.

The ESU Autism Education Center opened in January in collaboration with the AllOne Foundation’s Autism Collaborative Centers of Excellence Network. The center is a multi-disciplinary hub offering referrals, networking, resources, workshops, and training for the broader community, including Monroe, Pike, and Wayne counties, as well as for ESU students, faculty, community teachers, and families of individuals with autism.
