Mars Area School District issued the following announcement.
NOTICE — With the recent technical issues and outages associated with the Schoology learning management system and various online textbook companies, Mars Area School District is aware that repeated, unsuccessful attempts to access online instruction can be frustrating for many of our students and parents/guardians. Please rest assured that, despite these issues, our teachers and staff members are continuing to work tirelessly to present a variety of quality lessons, assignments and resources for their students.
We ask that you please note that these recent technical issues are not associated with Mars Area School District, but are related to the companies that provide the services we are relying upon to connect our students to online instruction. The District has been in contact with our service providers to determine when these issues will be resolved as well as what steps are being taken to prevent similar issues in the future. The District appreciates your continued patience and cooperation as we all continue to adapt to online instruction.
Mars Area School District implemented Online Continuity of Instruction (OCI) on March 30. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has given all Pennsylvania school districts to provide remote, online instruction and services during the current school closure.
The District's instructional plan will continue to be informed by guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH), PDE, and the U.S. Department of Education. IMPORTANT NOTICE — STUDENTS MUST LOGIN TO THEIR "STUDENT" ACCOUNTS IN SCHOOLOGY USING THEIR "STUDENT" USERNAME AND PASSWORD via the Schoology Student Login Portal (https://mars.schoology.com/login/ldap?&school=986995566). Only through their STUDENT accounts, will students have access to lessons and assignments in Schoology.
Students who are logged into Schoology via a PARENT account WILL NOT be able to access posted lessons and assignments. Parents who log in to Schoology via the PARENT Login Portal (https://app.schoology.com/login) will have “view only” access. Access to a STUDENT account is not available via a PARENT account.
