BLAKESLEE – Representative Jack Rader of the 176th Legislative District is collaborating with the Office of Attorney General to host seminars aimed at reducing identity theft, particularly among older residents. The initiative seeks to address the growing concern over identity theft crimes.

“Identity theft continues to be one of the fastest growing crimes in the country and scammers are constantly coming up with schemes to trick us into giving them our personal information,” said Rader. “Our seminars are an easy way to learn how to protect yourself from becoming a victim.”

Two free seminars have been scheduled: on Thursday, May 4, from 5-7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Pocono Lake, and on Thursday, June 15, from 5-7 p.m. at Ross Township Municipal Building in Saylorsburg.

Dave Shallcross, director of senior protection with the Office of Attorney General, will lead the sessions. He will discuss actions for those who fall victim to identity theft, offer tips on safeguarding personal information online and offline, and provide guidance on recognizing scams aimed at stealing identities.

Reservations are necessary for attending these seminars and can be made by contacting Rader’s district offices at either 570-643-7683 (Blakeslee office) or 570-620-4341 (Effort office).
