Rep. Jack Rader of Monroe County has announced a free license plate replacement event scheduled for June 7. The event, organized in collaboration with the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, will be held at Rader’s district office parking lot in Blakeslee, located at 395 Route 940, from noon to 2 p.m.

“We are happy to provide this free service to simplify the process of obtaining a new license plate from PennDOT,” said Rader. “Thanks to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department for helping us out.”

Vehicle owners interested in participating must register online at www.RepRader.com/events or call 570-643-7683 and provide title and plate information.

PennDOT considers a license plate illegible if any numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet away or if there is blistering, peeling, discoloration, or loss of reflectivity. If deemed illegible by a police officer during the event, paperwork will be completed at no charge. A new replacement plate will then be mailed to the vehicle owner’s home within weeks.
