Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm in Hamilton Township, Monroe County, has received a $5,000 Cultural and Historical Support Grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC). This announcement was made by Representative Jack Rader of Monroe County.
“Preserving our past for future generations is so important. I am pleased Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm was approved for this funding,” said Rader.
The farm provides various programs and activities throughout the year that explore different aspects of a typical 19th-century Pennsylvania German family farm. These include agricultural cycles, livestock practices, cuisine, community celebrations, social customs, and technology.
The Cultural and Historical Support Grant program aims to strengthen the museum community in the Commonwealth by supporting general operations of eligible museums and official county historical societies not funded by other state agencies.
PHMC has approved $1.9 million in funding for 158 eligible museums and historical societies across 58 counties. The grants were allocated using a formula based on a percentage of each organization’s annual operating budget.
