FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was sent electronically and is specifically seeking a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024 till September 26, 2024.

The details requested include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid. These specifics will allow us to analyze and report on the county’s financial dealings with various vendors during this period.

As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information.

We await a response from Dekalb County officials and will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency in local government affairs.
